This is where I pick a place, an event, a product that I like and feel more knowledge about it will enhance the traveler's life in some perspective.
This month I am spotlighting the Tire Sentry, an Advanced Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) product from Fleet Specialties Co. www.tiresentry.com
Travelers in RV's and cars know the importance of tire inflation. Poor inflation of tires is the major cause of many car accidents and pre-mature tire wear. By the time a leak has caused you to weav all over the lane, you are in danger of destroying a tire, if not a rim. These fine folks have designed a product that simply screws onto each valve stem and sends a wireless signal to a receiver that is either dash mounted or the model that sticks into the cigarette lighter or 12 vt. sockets and displays monitor lights for each tire. Yes, each sensor locks on so it won't fall off, or be stolen.
They have systems that monitor any number of tires including dual rear tires, most commercial 18 wheelers, RVs, and heavy machinery, and pressures up to 130 PIS.
Take a look at the list of vehicles that can benefit from this product.http://www.tiresentry.com/products.htm

The product works continually with a view of each tire individually from the driver, and has visual an audible alarms to notify you when a tire drops below the recommended level.
This is truly a five minute a tire install project, and about 20 more minutes if you choose the dash pedestal readout as opposed to just plugging in the cigarette style.
Car makers realized the importance (along with lawmakers help) of monitoring tire pressure and have made a system similar to this mandatory on all 2008 models. Proper aired tires over the nation would boost the fuel economy beyond most automobile re-designs. "
Tire inflation also has a direct impact on fuel efficiency since under-inflated tires can consume over one third of each gallon of fuel just to overcome rolling resistance. The Michelin Tire Co. advises that tires can account for as much as a 4% difference in fuel efficiency. (D.O.T. studies show that we (the USA), could save over 4.2 million gallons of fuel per day just by keeping tires properly inflated)"
Nest month look in the RV section about the benefits, including a towed vehicle, which has cause many an accident, fire, and even destroyed RV.

I found the product to be extremely well packaged, and the installation instructions were very adequate with visual graphics as well as written instructions. The price of the product is less than one large tire, or a tire and destroyed rim.
