Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival - 4th Weekend in Oct (Cruise-in Fri evening)
The festivities kick off on Saturday at 9 a.m. The Moonshine Festival explores Dawson County's history during the prohibition era when liquor was illegal & the Great Depression of the 1930's when running moonshine through the foothills of the NE Georgia mountains was a way of life. Thousands flock to the birthplace of NASCAR racing: Sealy, Hall, Parks & Gober. Old Jail: Located just off the square in Downtown Dawsonville, this historic building houses the local Welcome Center and Chamber of Commerce. Visitors are welcome to come and tour the old prison cells and former living quarters of the county sheriff. For information call: (706) 265-6278
Old Courthouse: Located on the square in Downtown Dawsonville, built in 1859. This is the oldest working courthouse in the state, and houses 5 offices and a courtroom.
